ABOUT

1980 - 2005

Guji Lorenzana was born Gregory M. Lorenzana, Jr., in Long Beach, California on May 11th, 1980. Guji grew up in a traditional Filipino household, with two loving and supportive parents, and two younger sisters.  Like most Filipino families, the children were encouraged to perform. Guji immediately fell in love with the limelight with dreams of one day becoming an actor and singer.

Throughout high school, Guji participated in talent shows and school plays. His high school drama teacher labeled him a triple threat, because he had a knack for acting, singing, and dancing.

During his college years, he continued his love of performing by joining several musical groups, performing regularly at Filipino festivals and private functions all over the United States.

After graduating college, he worked several corporate jobs in the technical and medical field, before taking another jump at his dreams by auditioning for American Idol Season 3. He auditioned twice, once in New York and another in San Francisco. Although he did not make it far in the contest, he did have a chance to audition for Simon Cowell. Simon enjoyed his audition, giving him positive feedback, ultimately driving Guji to try his luck in show business.

2006 - 2007

Guji seeked advice from his family, including his aunt, award winning singer, Jo Anne Lorenzana, who encouraged him to try it out in the Philippines. With the help of his aunt, Beth Lorenzana-Fonacier, Jo Anne's former manager and sister; Guji was introduced to top industry entertainment managers in the Philippines, opening doors to many new opportunities.

After working with former managers, Kuh Ledesma, Leo Dominguez, and others, Guji was led by Karin Araneta, who produced Guji's first full length independent album entitled, “Without Your Love.” His single "Tagumpay" was nominated for two Awit Awards in 2007.

2008 - 2012

In 2008, Guji was introduced to Bobby Nazareno. With the guidance of Bobby, he was able to audition for ABS-CBN's Star Magic. After a few successful meetings with Johnny Manahan, Guji Lorenzana became a member of Star Magic's Batch 16.

As a part of Batch 16, he was launched on ASAP on August 17, 2008 as a singer-actor. Some of his first projects with Star Magic included the musical West Side Story, The Singing Bee as a regular singer, and a walk-on role on the Filipino version of “I Love Betty La Fea.”

During this time, Guji also became a well known radio personality, hosting a popular weekend radio show called "The Weekend Chill" on Mellow 947 FM.

It wasn't until 2009, that Guji got his big break on TV when Director, Lauren Dyogi, casted him in his first lead role as the "love team" of Kaye Abad on the hit afternoon soap, "Precious Hearts Romances Presents, The Bud Brothers." His love team would go on to become voted the best love team in 2010, with ABS-CBN providing Guji another opportunity to lead in another soap with Kaye Abad entitled "Somewhere In My Heart."

Guji would go on to continue acting on several TV soaps and movies, along with several projects in theater. He would also become a semi regular on the station's popular noontime show, “ASAP,” where he would sing with a group called, Voizboys, who would go on to release an album with Star Music.

2013 - 2018

Guji stayed true to his music roots, continuing to perform around the metro with his project band, gaining notoriety in the Manila nightclub scene.

In 2013, Guji, along with his sister were given the opportunity to audition for the first season of “The Voice of The Philippines,” making it onto Team Apl De Ap, of the Black Eyed Peas. The Lorenzana Siblings would ultimately lose the battle rounds, to fellow Team Apl teammate, Tristan.

Later in 2013, Guji was casted in a supporting role in "She's The One'', starring DingDong Dantes and Bea Alonzo. This iconic movie was also the launching of one of the most successful love teams of today, Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano.

In 2014, after a public break up from his love team and girlfriend for several years, Kaye Abad, Guji met his future wife, interior designer, Cheska Nolasco.

That same year, Guji began to focus more of his attention to theater, landing the lead role in the second run of the Manila production of "Grease The Musical", where he played the leading role of Danny Zuko, opposite Tippy Dos Santos, who played Sandy.

In 2015, Guji Lorenzana, now 35 years old, proposed to his girlfriend, Cheska Nolasco, and they were married a year later in 2016. The wedding was held in Makati at The Green Sun, and was attended by many of his celebrity friends, including DingDong Dantes, Gab Valenciano, Will Devaughn, Roxanne Barcello, Moira Dela Torre, Sam Concepcion, Diana Zubiri, and many others.

In 2016, Guji landed a supporting role in the thriller, “Silong”, starring Piolo Pascual. Guji garnered a best supporting actor nomination at the annual FAMAS Awards that same year.

In 2017, Guji Lorenzana's contract ended with Star Magic, and soon after signed a 5 year management deal with Viva Artists Agency. With Viva, his first acting projects included stints on Viva Entertainment TV stations, such as Sari-Sari and Viva TV. He also was able to release music under Viva Records with his project band, TFTI. TFTI's single "Weak" is currently one of the most trending music videos on the Viva Records roster, currently at 6 million views on YouTube (as of May 2021).

In 2018, Guji took a slight break from acting to attend to his mother who was fighting cancer. In June of 2018, Guji's mother passed away. To pay tribute to his mother, Guji released a song entitled, “Be Alright”, distributed by Warner Music Philippines. The song and music video became a catalyst for Guji's efforts to spread cancer awareness in his mother's name. Guji teamed up with the "Asian American Donor Program'' and "Be The Match" organizations in the USA, making several appearances on TV all over the United States, encouraging Filipinos to become stem cell donors.

Back in the Philippines, Guji's music career took a turn. While promoting his own original music, Guji decided to put up a production company called, “Originals Only”. This music production outfit provided up-and-coming music artists a platform to promote their original material. It was here that Guji began to discover new talent, and his own management company “Open Door Artists” was born.
